On November 11th, starting at 5 p.m. non-production Windows systems will have security patches and other updates applied as necessary. Each server may need to be rebooted one or more times to apply all updates. Each reboot will impact the server for up to ten minutes.

On Thursday, 11/12/2009, from 3:00 AM to 6:59 AM, the IT Networks & Security Data Team will be upgrading a portion of the BoilerNet network to meet the new Purdue Network 2010 standard. Specifically the network will be upgraded in Pierce Hall (PRCE), the Purdue Village Community Center (PVCC), and the Service Annex (SEAN).
AFFECTED CLIENTS: Clients within PRCE, PVCC, and SEAN should plan to experience disruption of both wired network connectivity (via data PIC) and wireless network connectivity (via PAL/PAL2.0).
SCOPE OF WORK: During the scheduled outage window, affected clients in PVCC and SEAN should plan to experience service disruptions for up to 1 hour in duration and affected clients in PRCE should plan to experience service disruptions for up to 2 hours in duration.

Retiring some groups from CMDB, amalgamating users from various ITNS Network groups into "Data Networks".

On Thursday Nov. 12 at 9:00am, the default spam scanning policy for new forward users will be changed to "enabled". After this date, anyone setting up their @purdue.edu e-mail to forward to another address will be automatically enrolled in Puremessage spam scanning.
This change does not affect existing accounts, or those who have already made an explicit subscription choice. As always, one can subscribe or unsubscribe from the spam scanning service by following instructions in the spam scanning FAQ at:

On 11/12 starting at 4:30 p.m. memory will be added to the production Exchange CAS servers to improve performance. The servers are redundant and response time will be minimally affected during the work as it will be done on one server at a time. The work is scheduled after traffic normally declines to further minimize impact. The time was coordinated with Exchange administration.
